Dear members,
At the beginning of the Year of the Golden Dragon, may I first wish you all a very prosperous and 'productive' year. For those of us doing obstetrics, I am sure you will notice a marked increase in antenatal bookings in this baby boom.
In the past few months, our society has been working hard with the Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Hong Kong Tourist Association and the International Conference Consultants to prepare the bidding documents for the FIGO 2006 meeting. The inspection team of FIGO visited us in January and met with Mrs. Anson Chan who represents the HKSAR Government and various representatives from the medical profession and the hotel industry. The team was very impressed by our conference venues, recreational facilities and the infrastructure of Hong Kong. They had given us some useful advice on preparing the bidding documents, which will be presented at the General Assembly at Washington D.C. in September. We have organized a large delegation of over 50 members to attend the FIGO Congress at Washington D.C. to help promoting Hong Kong. We have also produced a very attractive flyer for distribution to other National Societies between now and September. For those members who will be attending international conferences during this period, please bring some of these flyers along and distribute them to our overseas colleagues. These flyers can be obtained from the College Secretary (Tel: 2871 8700).
To promote women's health in Hong Kong, our society runs public lectures on antenatal health as well as hormonal replacement therapy. Any member who is interested to contribute as lecturers is most welcomed. Please let the Hon Secretary have your name and we will make the arrangements.
Finally, let us join our efforts in making Hong Kong the venue of FIGO Congress in 2006.
Yours sincerely,
Dominic Li
